Things people ask before they ring

What does “to your door” actually mean?

That we arrive with the parts already on board. The van carries valves, traps, tap sets, flexis, fittings and the boiler parts that fail most often, so most jobs get finished on the visit instead of turning into “I’ll order that and come back Thursday”.

Do you really come out to the top of the valleys?

Yes — Marsden, Meltham, Holmfirth, New Mill, Jackson Bridge and the rest. It’s a longer drive and we account for that when we give you a time. What we won’t do is take the booking and then quietly not turn up because it was too far.

Do you give a time slot or just a day?

A window, and a phone call if we’re slipping out of it. Nobody should write off a whole day waiting in for a plumber.

Is somebody there at night?

Yes, 24 hours a day, seven days a week including bank holidays. It rings a plumber, not an answering service.

Are you Gas Safe registered?

Yes. Boiler work, gas connections, servicing and safety checks are all carried out by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and you’re welcome to ask for the card at the door.

Why is my shower so weak up here?

Very common in the villages above the town. It might be an old gravity-fed tank, a valve somebody left half shut, furred-up pipework, or genuinely low incoming mains. Each has a different fix at a very different cost, so it’s worth measuring before anybody sells you a pump.

How do I know what it’ll cost?

We look, explain what’s involved and give you a price before starting. If we open something up and find more than expected, we stop and have a conversation rather than adding it quietly.

Will you take the old bath or boiler away?

Yes. Old suites, boilers, rads and packaging all go on the van, and the floor gets swept before we leave.

Which areas do you cover?
